Return: If you are not fully satisfied with the adoption, or if you cannot comply with all of the terms and conditions of the Adoption Agreement at any time during the life of the dog, you may return the dog to DFW Sheltie Rescue.
Transfer of Ownership: The adopted dog may not be given away, sold, or transferred to another person, family, animal shelter, or entity for any reason at any time, except to DFW Sheltie Rescue.
Refund:
If the dog is returned within 2 weeks of the adoption date, a full refund of the adoption fee/donation
will be made. After 2 weeks, no refund will be made.
Reimbursement of Expenses
There will be no reimbursement for any expenses,
costs, or charges that you may incur for the adopted dog. Examples of expenses, costs, and charges
are licensing fees, food and supplement expenses, and veterinary care and other service fees.
Health and Welfare Program:
You must care for the adopted dog humanely by providing
adequate food, shelter, and water; maintaining its health with a regular inoculation program and
preventative heartworm treatments; and exercising the dog in a
fenced yard or on a leash at all times. The dog must not be free to roam the streets.
Licensing and Identification:
The dog must be licensed according to the laws and
ordinances of the city, town, municipality, county, or other area in which you live. You must also
keep personal identification on the dog at all times, including the DFW Sheltie Rescue ID tag.
Reason for Adoption:
You are adopting the dog to be an indoor house pet
only and not to leave it outside. You are not adopting the dog for medical, other experimental, or
breeding purposes or to chain or tie the dog.
Loss:
If the adopted dog is lost or stolen, you must
notify DFW Sheltie Rescue immediately so DFW Sheltie Rescue may help locate the dog.
Spaying or Neutering:
If the dog you are adopting is not spayed or neutered, you will be asked
to pay a deposit and to agree to spay or neuter the dog by a certain date. When DFW Sheltie
Rescue receives a spay/neuter certificate that is signed by the veterinarian who performed to
surgery and we confirm the spay or neuter, your deposit will be refunded.
Right of Inspection and Inquiry; Remedies:
To protect the welfare of the adopted dog,
DFW Sheltie Rescue reserves the right to examine and make inquiries about the dog at any time.
If DFW Sheltie Rescue learns that a term or condition of the Adoption Agreement is not being
met, it has the right to terminate the Adoption Agreement and repossess the dog.
No Warranties; Release and Indemnity:
You will receive the dog "as is" and agree to
assume all of the risks and financial responsibilities of ownership of the dog. Also, if the
dog you are adopting was found wandering or lost, there is a possibility that the owner(s) may
contact DFW Sheltie Rescue for return of the dog. If this occurs, DFW Sheltie Rescue will place
another dog with you at no additional cost.
Returned Check Charge:
There will be a $25 charge on any check that is returned.
